2021-2022 Term 1 - End of Term Notice
Hi folks, well it is with sadness that we must close Term 1 2022 early.
Our team is either in isolation for COVID19, out with Gastro or the flu.
We are all sorry we could not run the entire term, but management have decided that it is not fair on either you our customers, or our team to try and run make-up classes with minimal notice.
We have been made aware of a NSW Health warning, people with gastro should stay out of public pools. NSW Health recommends everyone, including parents of young children, do the following to avoid contamination of pools and splash parks:
- Do not swim, or allow children with diarrhoea to swim, in a pool for at least 14 days after diarrhoea resolves.

Joy of Water learn to swim school
Joy of Water learn to swim school was created at Beresfield Swimming Centre in 2016 by Tracy and Walter Ellem. Tracy has always been passionate about being able to get people of all abilities swimming. After completing her learn to swim qualifications with another local provider, she knew that the local pool really needed a learn to swim program.
“After approaching Newcastle Council we were granted permission to start the learn to swim program and we have been growing steadily ever since,” Tracy says. “Having a child with autism we understand how hard it is to get into lessons when you have other complications that restrict your abilities to fit into a standard program. That’s why our team customise the program to allow for limitations that a student might have.
“In 2018, we opened up two new locations in Bulahdelah and Stroud, which was a great success and we have continued to grow in both locations. “Our team have also started working with schools in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, running both water safety and school sport programs, which we continue to develop.
“We are always looking at expanding what we can offer, such as water-polo, water aerobics or aqua zumba. Our aim is to make water activities safe and fun for all ages and abilities.”
