This class is designed for children under the age of three, to help them become familiar with the sensation of being in the pool as the first step on the journey toward being strong, capable swimmers. In this class, parents/carers will be taught how to help build their little ones' confidence and safety skills within the water, in a playful and relaxed atmosphere.
This class is a 1:10 = 1 Austswim teacher to 10 Students ratio;
However due to the nature of the age, and swim level we require a parent, carer or guardian to get in the water with the student to assist in the learning experience.
Babies and Toddler sessions are thirty minutes in length. We advise parents to wear a t-shirt or rash shirt over their swimming costume, as it will both help the child to identify their parent whilst in the water and give them something secure to hold onto.
Please note that parental participation is required for any baby/toddler class or where the child is needing extra reassurance or support.
Where applicable, we require that all infants or children who are not yet toilet trained to wear an aqua nappy.
We ask that all swimmers observe sun safety protocols by ensuring they are appropriately clothed and sun cream is applied before entering the pool. Ideal clothing consists of rash shirt and swimmers. Hair should be tied back and any jewellery is removed. Hair cap and goggles can be used, but are not necessary in most cases.
Whilst some classes may involve using flotation devices such as noodles or kickboards, permanent flotation devices (e.g. arm floats) are not allowed, as they can both hinder movement and provide a false sense of security to the student.
